All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** From: May 22, 1969 Winn Parish Enterprise News-American Negro Man, 38, Dies Following Gunshot Wound A 38 year old Negro was dead on arrival to Winnfield General Hospital after a bullet from a .22 pistol penetrated his chest, Saturday night, at 7:30 p.m. in the L. & A. addition. Dead was J. T. Williams who lived in the L & A addition. Investigation of the shooting is still being conducted by the Winnfield Police Department and the Winn Parish Sheriff's Office. Witnesses said the shooting was accidental. Chief Deputy J. J. Crippen said the gun was owned by Clinton Lee Turner, 22. Turner reportedly took Williams to the hospital by car where he was pronounced dead on arrival. Williams was taken to Ben Johnson Funeral Home where arrangements are pending. He is survived by his wife, Mary Jean Williams, four children, Kerry Williams, Patry Wayne, Antley Jerome, and Christopher Williams; two step children, Betty Jean Williams and Jerry Williams. Also his mother, Lucille G. Williams; a sister, Cuba Maxine Harris, all of Winnfield; a brother, Kenneth Charles Williams of Chicago, Ill.
