Wills, Local Colored Businessman Succumbs Was National Republican Committeeman From Winn Parish Amos Wills, 47, colored, died at his home in the L. & A. Quarters Sunday at noon, after suffering a stroke of paralysis at 6 o'clock that morning. Funeral services were held Thursday with interment in the Natchitoches Cemetery. Wills came to Winnfield thirty some-odd years ago from Natchitoches and established a pressing shop and later a barber shop here. He acquired considerable property and was a leader among his people. Wills occupied a unique position being the national committeeman of the Republican party from this parish. He was financial secretary of the Morning Star Baptist Church and when local school boards were allowed, was a member of the colored school board of Winnfield. He is survived by his wife, Mandy.
