Willis, 52, Succumbs; Rites Held Tues. Welby Byron Willis, 52, died in a Winnfield hospital at 2 a.m. Monday, October 23, 1967. He was a Winnfield realtor and former member of the Winn Parish School Board. he was a native of Kelly but had resided in Winnfield most of his life. He was a Mason and served on the school board from 1951-1956. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Louise Carter Willis of Winnfield; three sons, Jerry of Baton Rouge, James and Tommy of Winnfield; two daughters, Mrs. Joyce Buxton of Pitkin and Miss Julia Ann Willis of Baton Rouge; a brother, J. A. Willis of Pascagoula, Miss., and three grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church of Winnfield with Dr. W. L. Holcomb officiating. Burial was in the Garden of Memories Cemetery near Winnfield under direction of Hixon Bros. Funeral Home of Winnfield. Masonic graveside services were conducted. Pallbearers were Jack Henderson, Herman Bass, Glenn Smith, Ralph Moseley, Melton Hightower, and Martin Sanders.
