Burned in the fire were Sarah Wilson, 50, Vernon Rod Dias, 23 months, and Marcia Sue Dias, three months. The two children were spending the night with their grandmother. The fire was reported about 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, November 25. The frame dwelling was already enveloped in flames before the local fire department could get on the scene. It was reported that the woman, who apparently had been asleep, discovered the fire, and ran outside sounding the alarm. She then ran back inside for the children and before she could save them, the ceiling collapsed, trapping her. Survivors are the Wilson woman's daughters, Adeal Dias, Mary Lula Dias, and sons, Roosevelt Dias and Fred Dias. Also, another grandson survives, Donald Ray Dias, about three.
