All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** From: February 3, 1966 Winn Parish Enterprise News-American Joyce Youth Dies; Autopsy Report Ordered The Winn Parish Sheriff's Office said Tuesday that an investigation was being conducted into circumstances surrounding the death of 18 year old James Earl Wilson of Joyce. According to the youth's grandfather, Troy Harper, and the sheriff's office, the boy was brought home in an auto about 1:20 a.m. Tuesday by "neighbor boys" and was put to bed, presumably alive. Harper said the boy's mother, Mrs. Bessie Wilson, discovered he was dead about 4:30 a.m. and called the sheriff's department. Acting Winn Parish Coroner Dr. E. C. Meyers said the cause of death was undetermined pending the outcome of an autopsy and a coroner's jury inquest. An autopsy was performed on the body in Shreveport Tuesday. The results were expected several days from now. Funeral services for the youth were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Crossroads Baptist Church near here with the Revs. Kenneth Wall and Hardy Beaubouef officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery by Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Winnfield. Other than his grandfather and mother, he is survived by one brother, R. D. Wilson of Tullos; six sisters, Mrs. Louis Curry of Tullos; Mrs. Marlene Ford of Winnfield; Mrs. Edith Banks of West Monroe, and Mrs. Marthat Maloy, Miss Maxine Wilson, and Miss Opal Wilson, all of Joyce, and the maternal grandmother, Mrs. Troy Harper.
