All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** From: March 31, 1955 Winn Parish Enterprise News-American Native Of Winn Buried In Melton Cemetery March 27 Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Sunday, March 27, at Hixson Brothers Funeral Home in Winnfield for Mrs. Emma Wise, 87, who died Friday night at the home of a daughter in Silsbee, Texas. The Rev. R. E. Barclay of Silsbee officiated. Mrs. Wise had resided here most of her life but had been living with her daughters in Texas for the past 18 years. Mrs. Wise was active in church and civic work. She was the widow of Isaac Wise, a pioneer parish resident. She was a native of Winn Parish. Burial was in the Melton Cemetery under the direction of Hixson Funeral Home. Acting as pallbearers were grandsons of the deceased: W. R. Whitehead, Charles Strange, Edward McBroom, Thomas Whitehead, Charles Shelton, and Robert Baker. Mrs. Wise is survived by five daughters, Mrs. Albert McBroom, Silsbee, Texas, Mrs. Roscoe Whitehead, Longview, Texas, Mrs. John Berry, Kennett, Mo., Mrs. George Newcomb, Transylvania, and Mrs. E. O. Baker, Winnfield; one brother, Marion Melton of Winnfield; 10 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
