Martin, Gansville, Dies of Injuries Earl T. Williams, 24, of Jonesboro, brother of Mrs. R. Q. Martin of Gansville community, Winn Parish, died at noon Wednesday in a Jonesboro clinic from injuries suffered in a wench-cable accident. The mishap occurred while he was at work at Hunt Lumber Company at Danville, Monday. A cable came loose, and as Mr. Williams reached over to readjust it, his sleeve caught and he was pulled into the machinery, officials said. His right arm was severed from his body. Fellow workers extricated him from the equipment and rushed him to the clinic, where he underwent emergency surgery. Physicians said Wednesday after his death that they "didn't see how the boy lived through the initial shock." Death was due to intestinal injuries and the shoulder injury. Alex Hunt, Jr., superintendent of Hunt Lumber Company, commented yesterday that Mr. Williams "was an awfully good worker, a very good boy, and very well- thought of boy." Mr. Williams was a member of the Jonesboro unit of the Louisiana National Guard and had attended Friendship High School. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Friendship Baptist Church with the Rev. Woodrow Killen and the Rev. Joe Pace officiating. Interment was in Liberty Hill Cemetery under direction of Southern Funeral Home of Jonesboro. Survivors include his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Williams, Jonesboro; two brothers, Robert Williams and Charles Williams, both of Jonesboro; two sisters, Mrs. R. Q. Martin, Dodson, Route 2, and Miss Johnnie Mae Williams, Jonesboro.
