Williams Succumbs Sept. 8 at Home in Sardis Funeral services were conducted September 9, 1945, at 3 o'clock at the Springhill Baptist Church, near Jonesboro, for Mrs. Lillie Williams. The Rev. Drew Myres and Rev. J. Jones officiated. Serving as pallbearers were Rev. L. B. Williams, K. U. Williams, G. D. Williams, Page Sims, Jack Myres, and Weidner Spillers. After several weeks illness Mrs. Williams died at her home in the Sardis community on Saturday, September 8. She was 66 years, 10 months, and three weeks of age. She was born Lillie Hughes, near Bastrop, in 1878. When four years old her parents died and she was separated from her sisters and brothers and brought to Jackson Parish where she was reared. In 1896 she married Louis R. Williams. In the spring of 1945 Mrs. Williams was reunited with her two brothers and one sister, with whom she had lost contact. Since then she had spent some time with them. She is survived by her husband and two sons, Dewey and Don F. Williams, two brothers, Ben and Henry Hughes, a sister, Mrs. Julia Hughes, all of Bastrop; six grandchildren, Kenneth and Gresham Williams and Mrs. Tom Driggers, all of Jonesboro, Louis B., Mildred, and Donnie Williams, of Atlanta, Route One, and seven great grandchildren.
