M. Wood Dies After Short Illness Funeral services for William M. Wood, 66, of Winnfield, were held at 10 a.m. in the chapel of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home here with the Rev. Calvin Phelps officiating. Burial was in Old Union Cemetery near Joyce. Mr. Wood died Tuesday, April 15, 1975 at his residence after a short illness. Mr. Wood was a retired surveyor for the Louisiana Department of Highways and a native of Winn Parish. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. J. D. Foster of Texarkana, Tex., and Mrs. Thomas Harrison of Montgomery; three brothers, John Wood of Lake Charles, Lee Wood, Sr., of Winnfield, and Sanford Wood of St. Joseph; one sister, Mrs. Erie Garrard of Winnfield; five grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Lee Wood, Jr., Norman Thornton, Cooper Little, Sonny Warner, Woodrow Gough, Mayor Jack Henderson, Dewey Hammond, and Dalton Martin.
