Woods of Verda Dies Monday at His Home, Funeral Tues. L. B. Woods of Verda, La., died at his home at 10 p.m. Monday, March 12, at the family residence. Mr. Woods, age 74 years and 24 days, was born in Alabama August 5, 1859, moving to Louisiana at the age of two. He was married Miss Elizabeth Sharpe in 1884. They were blessed with nine children, but lost two in death. At the age of 25 he began as a merchant on the Couley, near St. Maurice; later in business near Montgomery. At the time of his death he was past master of Verda Masonic Lodge and a member of the Verda Baptist Church. Those surviving him are his widow and seven children, Mrs. L. M. Smith, Verda, Mrs. W. J. Burns, R. J. Boudreau, and Mrs. G. M. Poche, all of New Orleans; Joe Woods, Wheeling, Frank M. Woods, New Verda, and Lucius B. Woods, Jr.; one sister, Mrs. Berta McCain, Shreveport; and sixteen grandchildren. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon, March 13, at the Mars Hill Church by Rev. J. M. Boyd. Interment was made in that cemetery, conducted by the members of the Masonic Lodge.
