Wood, Winn Native, Dies In Texas Sam C. Wood, 65, of 2927 Lyons St., Texarkana, Tex., died Sunday, June 7, 1970, after a brief illness. Funeral services were at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the Williams Memorial Methodist Church in Texarkana, with Rev. James T. Garrett and the Rev. Clyde E. Thomas officiating. Burial was in Chapelwood Cemetery. Born July 4, 1904 in Winn Parish, Mr. Wood was a former resident of Shreveport, La., and had been a resident of Texarkana for the past 28 years. A retire pharmacist and former owner of Wood's Pharmacy, he was a former president and member of the Texarkana Pharmaceutical Association and a member of the Texarkana, Texas School Board. He was a member of the Williams Memorial Methodist Church. He was a member of the Border Masonic Lodge No. 672 and was a Shriner. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Minnie Wood; a son, Dr. Sam Wood of Texarkana; a daughter, Mrs. Joyce Ann Hill of Ft. Worth, Texas; four brothers, Will and Lee Wood, both of Winnfield, La.; John Wood of Lake Charles, La., and Sanford Wood of St. Joseph, La.; a sister, Mrs. Herbert Garrard of Winnfield, La.; four grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
