FUNERAL SERVICES FOR MR. AND MRS. S.R. WOOD TUESDAY

Pneumonia Victims are Laid to Rest in a Single Grave

Joint funeral services for Mr. and Mrs. S.R. Wood of Dodson were held at the
Dodson Baptist church at 10:30 o'clock Tuesday morning, the Rev. A.H. Cullen
and Rev. A.L. Stokes of Winnfield and Rev. H.B. Hysell, pastor of the M.E.
Church of hodge, officiating. Burial was in the Winnfield cemetery Tuesday
afternoon in a single grave, according to the last wish of the deceased.

The elderly couple, Mrs. Wood, age 65, and Mr. Wood, age 68, were victims of
flu which developed into pneumonia. Mr. Wood's death occurred last Thursday
morning, but his widow prevented any funeral arrangements, ordering his body
to be held until she died, her death occurring Monday afternoon.

Both Mr. and Mrs. Wood were members of prominent Winn parish families. Both
were members of the Baptist church and influential in church and auxillary
work. 

Mr. Wood was a member of the K. of P. organization, while Mrs. Wood was a
member of the Eastern Star Lodge, which had a part in the funeral rites.

The deceased couple are survived by the following children: Sam and Walter
Wood of New Orleans; Ambrose Wood and Mrs. W.N. Anderson of Winnfield; H.N.
Winans, of Canton, Miss., and a number of grandchildren.
