M. Wood Here Tuesday W. M. Wood, 77 years of age, died at his home in Winnfield Monday at 6:30 p.m. after an illness of five months duration. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. at the family home with the Rev. Alwin Stokes, Presbyterian minister, officiating. Interment was in the Winnfield Cemetery. The Masonic Lodge had charge of the services at the grave. Serving as pallbearers were Eli Harrell, H. W. Bass, Hugh Mercer, Sam Brian, W. C. Colvin, and Gamble Carter. A native of Missouri, Mr. Wood came to Louisiana many years ago. He and Miss Erie Graham were married at Plain Dealing, La., later moving to Shreveport then to Dodson. For the past 32 years they have been making their home in Winnfield where he first operated a meat market and later a theater. He retired from business a number of years ago. Mr. Wood was a member of the Eastern Star Masonic Lodge No. 151 and of the Christian Church. He leaves his wife; two daughters, Mrs. O. B. Thompson and Mrs. Herbert Garrard, Winnfield; six sons, Otis and Lee, Winnfield, Sam and Will of Texarkana, Texas; John of Lake Charles, and Sanford H. of St. Joseph. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Two sons preceded him in death, Eugene and J. D.
