Wright of Baton Rouge, who died May 13, 1972 in our lady of the Lake Hospital, were held Sunday in Winnfield at Hixson Brothers Chapel at 3 p.m., with the Rev. Calvin Phelps officiating. Burial was in the Winnfield Cemetery under direction of Hixson. Acting as pallbearers were David Dalton, Ben Hawchey, Alex Carlson, W. H. Wright, James Hawchey, and Harrel W. Carlson. Dr. Wright is survived by one sister, Mrs. Florence W. Dalton of Baton Rouge. A native of Winnfield, Dr. Wright was born December 17, 1894. He attended Louisiana State University and graduated from Tulane School of Medicine in 1920. He interned at Turo Infirmary in New Orleans, and practiced medicine at Clarks, La., for two and a half years, later going to New York City where he was residento physician at Woman's Hospital. Dr. Wright entered Charity Hospital in New Orleans in 1928 as House Surgeon under the late Dr. Authur Vidrine. In 1930, he was named Assistant Director of Charity, and in 1939 was named Director, serving a total of 12 ® years. After leaving New Orleans, Dr. Wright was Director of Huey P. Long Hospital in Pineville for four years. He then practiced in Winnfield for four years, and then moved to Baton Rouge, where he served as medical Coordinator with the Department of Public Welfare until his retirement. Dr. Wright had been recognized by the East Baton Rouge Parish Medical Association for 50 years of faithful service in the medical profession.
