All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** From: April 20, 1928 Winnfield News American Wade Kelly Wright Succumbs to Long Illness Wednesday Funeral Services Thursday With Interment In Local Cemetery The death of Wade Kelly Wright occurred Wednesday morning April 18th, cast a pall of gloom and sadness over the entire community where he has lived his entire life and whose family has always been prominent in the affairs of the parish. Mr. Wright was born near Zion on March 1st, 1871, son of Wade and Ann Wright. He and Miss Pinkie White were married February 2, 1893. Although no children came to bless this union, this couple have always had a great love for children and so adopted two. J. C. Terrell, now a prominent business man of Leesville, was adopted by Mr. and Mrs. Wright when 8 years of age and six years ago, the adopted Leonard Brown age 12 years. Since early manhood Mr. Wright has been a staunch and loyal member of the Baptist Church and fraternally he was affiliated with the Masonic order holding membership with the Eastern Star Lodge No. 151, F. A. M. He has never sought the limelight but has preferred to live a quiet useful life serving his fellowman in unofficial capacities. Funeral services were conducted Thursday morning at ten o'clock by Rev. A. H. Cullen at the First Baptist Church, and he was laid to rest in the Winnfield Cemetery amid the sorrowing of many relatives and friends. He is survived by his wife and two sisters, Mrs. W. D. Melton of Winnfield and Mrs. W. J. Long of Georgetown.
