CALLED BY DEATH Mrs. Mary Ann Wright, aged 86 years, 6 months and 4 days, was called to her celestial home in the Christian's home in the Glory Land, at 9 o'clock on the evening of July 2, 1924. Deceased was the widow of Wade A. Wright, who died 52 years ago. She was born in Merriwether County Georgia, where she lived until she was grown and married, but soon after marriage she came to Louisiana, with her husband and her father and mother, Mr. David and Mrs. Sarah Woodruff, settling near Zion, where they lived until some time after Mr. Wright's death, when she moved to Winnfield, where she resided continuously ever since. She was the mother of nine children, three of whom still live, Mr. W. K. Wright and Mrs. Nancy Melton of Winnfield and Mrs. Lucy Long of Georgetown. Her husband served with distinction throughout the civil war and came home and lived until 1871, when he passed away, leaving her with the responsibilities of raising the whole family, and she performed that duty nobly and well, leaving 114 grand and great grandchildren to mourn her death. Mrs. Wright died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Nancy Melton on Rural Route No. 2. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. L. D. Posey at Zion Cemetery on Thursday evening, after which the remains were laid to rest beside the loved ones gone before. She was a member of the Baptist Church and had been since early womanhood, dying firm in the faith, with the blessed assurance of the Saviour's promise of everlasting life for all those who believed in Him, obeyed the Gospel and kept the Faith. After a long and eventful life she has crossed the silent river to rest in the celestial land where trials and troubles will never come. "Blessed are the Dead who die in the Lord."
