D. Wright Killed, Auto Wreck Two Cars Collide Near Opelousas. Hughes Brought To Winnfield Herschel Hughes, brother of Earl Hughes of Winnfield, was badly shaken, and C. DeWitt Wright, of Montgomery, was instantly killed about seven o'clock Sunday night when the coupe which was driven by Herschel's brother, J. W. Hughes, was struck by another car. The collision caused Wright to be thrown high into the air and over an electric wire at a grade crossing at Church Point near Opelousas. His skull was crushed. Eye witnesses said the car was traveling at a high rate of speed. Wright's body was taken to an Opelousas undertaking at Opelousas while Hershcel Hughes was removed to a sanitarium in Opelousas for treatment and was brought to Winnfield Tuesday and is now recovering from shock and bruises at the home of Earl Hughes. J. W. Hughes escaped injury.
