Well Known Old Time Negro Passes Away


Uncle Sam Wright, one of the most widely known old time negroes of this
section died at his home six miles south of Winnfield last Saturday.  Uncle
Sam was 84 years old and had served his time well.  He was a native of Georgia
and came to Louisiana with the Milling family before the Civil War.  He had a
large family, numbers of them living in and near Winnfield.  His many white
friends regret his death very much.
