All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** >From the June 20, 1933 Winnfield News-American Funeral Services for Wade Wright Thursday Morning Is Widely Known in Political Circles, Although Holding No Major Offices Wade Anderson Wright, age 50, died at the family residence here Wednesday morning, June 28, at one o'clock, after several weeks' illness. Funeral services were held at his home Thursday morning, June 29, at 10 o'clock, with the Rev. L. D. Posey, pastor of the Jena Baptist Church in charge, assisted by Rev. W. M. Averett of Winnfield. The services were conducted at the grave with Masonic ceremonies conducted by Rev. A. S. Stokes, pastor of the local Presbyterian Church. The following men acted as pallbearers: Bryant Sholars, Charles Walsworth, J. E. Carter, R. W. Oglesby, John Peters, and W. T. Norman. Mr. Wright, widely known in Winn Parish and throughout this section of the state, was born October 25, 1882. He was the son of the late Jim D. Wright and Sarah Alice Wright. He was a member of Eastern Star Lodge No. 151, F. & A. M. Although active in political circles, he never held any major office, except that of chairman of the Winn Parish Democratic Executive Committee, which position he filled at the time of his death. He was also a deputy sheriff under W. T. Heflin for six years. The deceased is survived by his mother, Mrs. S. A. Wright, Winnfield; four brothers, J. M. Wright and J. D. Wright of Winnfield; W. H. Wright, Baton Rouge; Dr. Roy Wright, Superintendent of the Charity Hospital, New Orleans; three sisters, Mrs. Ed Harrel, DeQuincy; Mrs. D. W. Harrell, New Orleans, and Mrs. N. C. Dalton, Winnfield.
