Memorial Service For J. W. Wroten, Sr.

Memorial services for J. W. Wroten, Sr., 59, of Winnfield, were held at 2:30
p.m. Sunday at the First United Methodist Church here with the Rev. Eskel
Tatum officiating.

Services were under the direction of Southern Funeral Home of Winnfield.

Mr. Wroten died Thursday, May 26, 1977 at Schumpert Medical Center in
Shreveport after a lengthy illness.

A native of Claiborne Parish, Mr. Wroten was a former owner of Western Auto
and was employed at Tremont Lumber Compamy for many years.  He was employed by
Crown Zellerbach at the time of his death.  He was a veteran of World War II
and a member of the First United Methodist Church of Winnfield.  It was his
wish that his body be donated to the LSU Medical School.

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Jane Wroten of Winnfield; one son, John W.
Wroten, Jr., of Chicago, Ill.; one daughter, Mrs. Jane W. Deterly of
Arlington, Texas; and one granddaughter.

The family requests that any planned memorials be made to the Winn Parish
Library, First United Methodist Church of Winnfield, LSU Medical School, or a
favorite charity.
