Wright, Native of Winn Dies Jan. 22 James D. Wright, 63, well known native of Winn Parish, died Jan. 22, 1953 in the Veterans Hospital in Alexandria. He was born June 18, 1889 in the old family home six miles south of the city. He was the son of the late James and Sarah Alice Wright. Better known as Jimmy to his many friends, he spent most of his life in Winnfield where for many years he was employed by the State Highway Department. He was also a prominent livestock dealer. He was a member of the Elks Lodge and the Masonic Lodge. Funeral services were held in the chapel of Southern Funeral Home of Winnfield with Rev. Alwin Stokes and Dr. W. L. Holcomb officiating. Interment was in the Winnfield Cemetery. Survivors include one sister, Mrs. N. C. Dalton; two brothers, Dr. Roy Wright and Bill Heard Wright, both of Baton Rouge; two nieces, Mrs. C. W. Hanchey of Lake Charles and Mrs. Oscar Carlson of DeQuincy; two nephews, N. C. Dalton, Jr., and W. H. Wright, Jr., of Baton Rouge. Pallbearers were Bill Holstead, Eli Harrell, Clyde DeLoach, D. C. Allen, Lloyd Key, Jesse Corley, John DeLoach, and Robert Heard. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Southern Funeral Home of Winnfield.
