Wright of Winnfield, passed away Monday, August 19, 1968 in Allendale, Virginia. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. in Dixon. Survivors include two brothers, E. W. Cook, Jackson, Miss., J. S. Cook, Hattiesburg, Miss.; two sisters, Mrs. H. L. Smith of Hattiesburg, Miss., and Mrs. C. R. Wright. August 22, 1968 Brother of Local Resident Dies In Gulfport John Marion Deen, 66, retired superintendent of mails at the U. S. Post Office in Gulfport and a resident of Gulport for 38 years died at 12:25 a.m. Thursday, August 15, 1968 at Memorial Hospital where he had been a patient since May 15. Mr. Deen was born March 12, 1902 in Grant Parish, La., son of the late W. P. and Ida Albright Deen. He was a member of Gulf Gardens Baptist Church and Gulfport Masonic Lodge No. 422, F. & A. M. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mildred Tunis Deen, Gulfport; one son James M. Deen, Long Beach; one daughter, Mrs. B. T. Herring, Gulfport; five grandchildren and five sisters, Mrs. Ebb Hyde and Mrs. Ed Guilliams, Grant Parish; Mrs. J. A. McBride, Jonesboro, La., Mrs. C. E. Smith, Pineville, La., and Mrs. E. J. Buchanan, Winnfield, La. The funeral service was held Friday morning at 11 o'clock at the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Dr. E. N. Wilkinson, interim pastor of the Gulf Gardens Baptist Church, officiating. Interment was in Evergreen Cemetery.
