Emerson, 69, of Winnfield died Thursday, August 30, 1973 at her residence. Widow of the late John S. Emerson, she was a member of the Methodist Church and a native of Chicago, Illinois. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Saturday in the Southern Funeral Home Chapel with Father R. V. Lawrence officiating, assisted by Rev. Jack H. Midyett. Burial was in the Garden of Memories Cemetery near Winnfield. Survivors include two sons, Dr. Samuel M. Emerson of Lake Charles and James Hall Emerson of Winnfield; one daughter, Miss Mercedes C. Emerson of New Orleans; one brother, Edward Krizman of Chicago, Ill.; two sisters, Mrs. Lillian Belza of Brookfield, Ill., and Mrs. Marian Habal of Chicago, Ill.; five grandchildren. Pallbearers, nephews of the deceased, were Morris Crawford, Harvey Hugh Emerson, George Emerson, Tommy Emerson, Duke Belza, and R. A. Moon. July 4, 1973 Funeral Rites For Mrs. Martin At Antioch Sat. Mrs. Eula D. Martin, 72, of Friendship, died Thursday, June 28, 1973. Funeral services were held Saturday at 2:30 p.m. in the Antioch Methodist Church near Goldonna with the Rev. Alton Toms and the Rev. Bob Ezell officiating. Burial was in the Antioch Cemetery. Survivors include two sons, Roy Martin of Shreveport and Shelby Martin of Bienville; two daughters, Mrs. Eva Jean Folden of Jonesboro and Mrs. Inez Gibbs of Goldonna; three sisters, Mrs. Edwards Usrey of Saline, Mrs. Jessie Martin of Saline, and Mrs. Lena Weeks of Goldonna; 15 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. July 4, 1973 J. H. Swanson, Dodson Native, Dies June 26 John H. Swanson, 69, of 2704 Navaho Trail, died at 12:40 p.m. in Alexandria Tuesday, June 26, 1973 in St. Frances Cabrini Hospital. He was one of the founders of the American Supply Co., organized in 1946, and was chairman of the board at the time of his death. Born in Dodson, he was graduated from Dodson High School and Louisiana Polytechnic University. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Alexandria, the Alexandria Lions Club, Jonesboro Masonic Lodge No. ____, F. & A. M., El Karubah Shrine Temple, and the Greater Alexandria-Pineville Chamber of Commerce. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Doris Nichols Swanson of Alexandria; a son, Johnny Mack Swanson of Alexandria; a daughter, Mrs. Robert Christensen of Euless, Texas; and four grandsons. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home with Rev. Bentley Sloane officiating. Entombment was in Alexandria Memorial Gardens mausoleum. September 5, 1973 Mrs. Whisenant, 85, Succumbs; Rites Saturday Mrs. Oler Gorham Whisenant, 85, of Winnfield died Friday, August 31, 1973 at her residence. Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the Southern Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Yocum and the Rev. Billy Smithart officiating. Burial was in the Gorhamtown Cemetery. Survivors include four sons, Detroy Whisenant, A. T. Whisenant, Arles Whisenant, and Arlen Whisenant, all of Winnfield; two daughters, Mrs. Jessie Mae Vallery and Mrs. Lee Ether Lowery, both of Winnfield; 12 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren. September 5, 1973 Mother of O. T. White Dies; Funeral Mon. Mrs. Willie Thomas White, 92, of Jamestown, widow of David Morgan White, sr., died Saturday, September 1, 1973 in a Natchitoches nursing home after a long illness. Funeral services were held Monday at 10 a.m. in the Rockett Funeral Home in Ringgold. Burial was in the Mount Olivet Cemetery. Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Will Tyler of Coushatta, Mrs. Mace Regions of Natchitoches, and Mrs. Avis Noles of Heflin; a sister, Mrs. Sudie Hall of Ringgold; six sons, Fred White of Hattiesburg, Miss., Oran T. White of Winnfield, D. M. White of Satellite Beach, Fla., James L. White, Lamar White, and D. E. White, all of Jamestown; 21 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, and six great great grandchildren. Pallbearers, all grandsons, were Lawrence White, Claude White, Jr., Edward White, John David Noles, Richard Noles, Bernard Smith, Tommy Glen Jones, Bill Jones.
