This is a picture of Jeremiah (Germain) Duplissey taken about 1890. He was born 

December 11, 1819 in Avoyelles Parish, Louisiana and died about 1890 in a part 

of St. Landry Parish that later became Evangeline Parish. His parents were 

Dominique Plessy born about 1777 in Bordeaux, France and Nancy Roe (Rowe) born 

1797 in Edgefield, South Carolina. When Jeremiah Duplissey was about three 

years old, he moved to a part of Natchitoches Parish that later became Winn 

Parish. His father had died in 1821 in Avoyelles Parish.Jeremiah grew up in 

Natchitoches and Winn parishes and raised half of his family in these parishes. 

Jeremiah first married Rachel Franks May 11, 1841 in Natchitoches Parish. She 

was the daughter of Joseph Franks ( born 1796 in Tennessee) and Rebecca 

Thompson. His second wife was Lessie Rials, and they married about 1874.
