This portrait of Winfred S. and Clara Wilson Emmons was made in August,
1961. Winfred, born February 16, 1885, married August 14, 1917, died
September 2, 1964. Clara, born January 24, 1888, died June 23, 1967. W.S.
Emmons was a farmer, business owner, principal, and mayor of Sikes. Clara
Emmons was a teacher as well as farm-wife, mother, and home-maker. Two of
their sons and their daughter were university professors. One son was a tile
mason, one a rail road engineer, and one an automobile mechanic.
