He had an alias name of W. F. Vaughn. He was born in Arkansas abt. 1849. His parents were Maborn (birth date unknown) and Lucinda Vaughn (b. 1814) from Tennessee and he had a brother named Jobe (b. 1861). John Henry was in AR., TN, OK, TX and LA. He disappeared later in life after moving to Louisiana leaving his wife Mary Jane behind. Nothing is known of what happened to him. Some people believe he may have been killed. Mary Jane Thomas - born June 15, 1865 in Arkansas and died Oct. 13, 1932 in Winnfield, LA. She was ½ French and ½ Cherokee. She smoked a pipe and made her own clothes. Her parents were Benjamin (b. 1824) and Nancy Thomas (b. 1828) from Kentucky. Mary Jane was the youngest of 9 children. She buried in the Zion Hill Cemetary north of Winnfield next to several of her children, Fred Vaughn, Jessie Vaughn, and Wesley Vaughn.. They had 13 children together: Walter; Sam; Fred (killed by Bossier Parish officers around Jan., 1927); Homer (we think died in Minn. Prison); Jencie; Jessie (shot by jealous Man); Mae ; Katie; Lessie; Effie; Rosie; John Henry; John and Wesley.
