P. Eagles and Miss Hattie Pace were married at Colfax, going there to be married because of parental objections which prevented the issuing of a license in this parish. The young couple had arranged to have a wedding at Winnfield Thursday but the groom, who is not of age, forgot to get his father's consent till all the preparations had been made with the exceptions of the license. Mr. E. Eagles, father of the groom-to-be got onto what was about to happen and set about to stop further proceedings. He could do nothing, however, and as a last resort he forbid the issuing of a license. Then it looked like the marriage would fail to materialize, but after some maneuvering the couple, accompanied by some friends, got teams and drove to Colfax Monday night and were married there Tuesday. They returned home and enjoyed a dining Wednesday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Pace, parents of the bride. The contracting parties to this little romance are well known and are very popular young people. They are receiving the congratulations of numerous friends.
