Pension File: W-24270 SOLDIER'S APPLICATION--dated 21 Apr 1818 at Worchester, Otsego Co, NY. States he enlisted in the US service in the year 1780 (on the outside of the application appears this notation: Found in Swift's Regt. and Hill's Co. GALUSHA, JACOB, Apr 24, '78, Disch. 14 Feby.'81--3 years.) in the Connecticut Line under Capt. Ebenezer Hill, Col. Heman Swift's Regt. for 3 years service. He served his time out and was honorably discharged. Said discharge is now lost. He is aged 60 years. PENSION CERTIFICATE--No. 3335 (New York). JACOB GALUSHA private in Connecticut Line in Rev. War. Inscribed on the Roll of New York at $8.00 per month to commence 21 Apr 1818. Certificate issued--5 Oct 1818. Act of 18 Mar 1818. SOLDIER'S DECLARATION--dated 22 Jun 1820, Otsego Co, NY. JACOB GALUSHA, aged 63 years, resident of said county, states he served in Capt. Hill's Company in Col. Heman Swift's Regt. of Conn. Troops. That he is now receiving a pension. He was a resident citizen of the US on 18 Mar 1818, and he has not since, by gift or otherwise, disposed of his property. Schedule of property: Real estate--none. 1 hog--$4. 2 sheep--$4. 1 table--$1. 9 chairs--$3. 1 chest of drawers--$2.50. 1 pot--$1. 2 kettles--$2. A little crockery--$1. 1 harow--$2. 1 plow old--$1. 1 old wagon- $15. Total--$37.50 Occupation is carpenter, but unable to pursue it due to wound in action, and a rupture. Has wife, aged 61 years. Has boy who lives with him, named Oliver. He is 18 years old and not able to labour and has been sick from his infancy. WIDOW'S DECLARATION--dated 7 Jun 1842, Allegany Co, NY. DINAH GALUSHA, aged 80 years, resident of the town of Alfred, states she is the widow of JACOB GALUSHA. He lived in Williamstown, Mass., when he entered the Rev. War as a volunteer. He was in the battle at the taking of General Burgoyne. She married JACOB GALUSHA on 5 May 1780. Her husband died on 16 Jun 1836 and she has remained a widow. DECLARATION BY PHEBE TOWNSEND--dated Albany Co, NY, 27 Jan 1845. PHEBE TOWNSEND of Rensselaerville in said county, aged 50 years, deposed as follows in order to obtain the pension due her mother, DINAH GALUSHA. Her mother died in the town of Alfred, Allegany Co, NY on 13 Mar 1843. Her father, JACOB GALUSHA, a pensioner, died 9 years ago last June. During the Rev. War her parents lived in Williamstown, Mass., and Hoosick, NY. Her parents were married in Williamstown. Her mother, the said DINAH GALUSHA, left the following children surviving her: CLARRINDA CRANDALL of Alfred, NY JACOB GALUSHA of Hornellsville, NY LYMAN GALUSHA, lives in Pennsylvania LYDIA ARMSTRONG of Rensslaerville, Albany Co, NY OLIVER H. GALUSHA, City of Albany, NY DECLARATION OF WILLIAM COMSTOCK AND LYDIA KELLY--dated Herkimer Co, NY, 4 Aug 1842. They swear they were residents of the town of Williamstown, County of Berkshire, Mass., in 1780 and that they were acquainted with JACOB GALUSHA who resided at that time in Williamstown, and that on or about 9 May 1780 JACOB GALUSHA was married to DINAH MADDISON. DEPOSITION BY CHRISTOPHER CRANDALL AND CLARINDA CRANDALL-- dated, Allegany Co, NY, 4 Oct 1842, declare they are residents of town of Alfred, and that JACOB GALUSHA died at Almond on 16 Jun 1836. DEPOSITION BY SPINK COMSTOCK--aged 64 years, 23 Jul 1845, made at Williamstown, Mass. He states that he has always been informed by his parents and others that when deponent's uncle removed his family from Rhode Island, he brought with him a child by name of DINAH MADESON, who continued to live in his family until her marriage to JACOB GALUSHA. OTHER INFORMATION--Letter from the Commissioner of Pensions to Mrs. Fred W. Culver, Saginaw, Mich., date Mar 14, 1931, states that the following children of JACOB GALUSHA died prior to the death of their father: JONATHAN GALUSHA, the oldest DAVID GALUSHA SALLY CLEVELAND.
