"That on the first day of May in the year 1775, he enlisted in the town of Amherst in the county of Hampshire and the state of Massachusetts, and marched to Cambridge in a company commanded by Captain Nodiah Leonard of Sunderland; that the names of the other officers under whom he served at this time were ____ Woodbridge of South Hadley was his colonel; ____ Smith of South Hadley was his lieutenant (cannot remember the Christian name of either the lieutenant or the colonel) and Samuel Gold of Amherst aforesaid was his ensign. That the regiment to which he belonged was stationed at Cambridge aforesaid under General Putnam; that this deponent was at the Battle of Bunker Hill in June of that year; that after this he was at a place called Litchmore's Point and helped to break the first turf there in order to build a fort at that place. That on the last day of December of that year, Col. Woodbridge requested the regiment to tarry until the next morning, which they did. He then furnished them with one day's provisions to return home and gave them his sincere thanks for their faithfulness while under his command, and bid them all goodbye, which was all the discharge this deponent had; making from the 14th day of May aforesaid, the time at which he enlisted, to the last day of December following, his time of service to be eight months." "That he was born in the town of Amherst aforesaid in the year 1755, and has a record of his age in his Bible at home. That since the Revolutionary War, he has resided in the towns of West Hampton of Pittsfield in the state of Massachusetts, and in the town of Berkshire in the county of Tioga in the state of New York. That he has no documentary evidence and that he knows of no person whose testimony he can procure who can testify to his service. [signed] Isaac Goodale." "State of New York, Tioga County} On this 2nd day of Jan, 1854, personally appeared before Charles P. Avery, County Judge and Surrogate of the said county of Tioga, Electa Goodale, a resident of Richford in the said county of Tioga, aged 75 years, who being duly sworn according to law, doth on her oath make the following declaration in order to obtain the benefits..." "That she is the widow of Isaac Goodale, late of the ____ town of Berkshire in said county of Tioga who was a pensioner under the laws of the United States and drew a pension by virtue thereof for some time previous to his death; and for proof of the service of the said Isaac Goodale for which such pension was granted and also for proof of the capacity in which he served, and the nature and extent of his service; as well as for information as to the law and Act of Congress under which he received such pension; and the agency at which he was paid, the undersigned declarant hereby refers to the evidence filed in the application of the said Isaac Goodale in the Pension Office of the United States in the city of Washington." "And she further declares that she was married to the said Isaac Goodale on the 30th day of January 1828 and that her said husband died on the 23rd day of November, 1834. That she was not married to him prior to the 2nd day of January 1800, but at the time above stated. She further declares that she is now a widow. Signed by the above named declarant in the presence of us who have hereto subscribed our names and residences. Electa Goodale. Wealthy Belcher, Joseph Belcher, of Richford, Tioga Co, NY." "State of New York, County of Tioga} On this 14th day of December, 1853, personally appeared before me, Gaylord Judd, of the town of Candor in said county, who first being duly sworn according to law, deposeth and sayeth: "That on the 30th day of January, 1828, I united Isaac Goodale and Electa Andrews, both of the town of Berkshire in said county in the bonds of wedlock; that he did not make a record of the marriage at the time; nor does he know that there was a record made of it by any other person. Sworn to and subscribed on the day and year above written. Gaylord Judd, before me, Joseph Belcher, Justice of the Peace." The widow, Electa Goodale also applied for Isaac's bounty land entitlement on the 27th of March, 1855.
