Brown, a picture maker of dissipated character, was arrested this morning charged with killing his mother, Mrs. Catherine O' Meally, an old woman who lived at 72 Broadway, south Boston, by beating her. Brown has been an habitual drinker for years, and for a week or more has been constantly drunk. He is about 33 years old,and a widower. Mrs. O'Meally, the murdered woman, married twice. Her first husband's name was Brown, who has been dead for some years. Some time after his death she married John O'Meally, who subsequently left her. The accused man lived with his mother, and according to statements they did not get along together on account of Brown's drinking habits. Brown was drunk last night, and this morning the bruised and battered body of his mother was found on the floor of her room.
