The dates of death for persons whose stones are either missing, unphotographed, or damaged beyond legibility more than likely came from "the Kelley Book" located at the Town Hall [Kelley, James E. Wilmington Records of Births, Marriages and Deaths from 1730 to 1898. Lowell, MA: Thompson & Hill, 1898]. The basic information was mapped and recorded originally for the cemetery in 1976 by William Meyer. It was updated as part of a 1999 Eagle Scout Project by Roman Walsh. (See six-page paper handout from the Wilmington Historical Commission for complete report.) The transcriptions and other data entry were created by Susan Daily in August and September 2005, from digital photographs taken at the cemetery on 8 May 2005. Some of the data in the original report was corrected in the accompanying spreadsheet based on the inscriptions found. Misspellings (i.e. "thair" instead of "their") are not typos, but can be verified by viewing the original photographs. Photo-software was used to examine heavily damaged headstones in negative relief and grayscale to more accurately read inscriptions. Inscriptions that are broken off, damaged, or obscured by lichen are noted with a "[...]" where additional text was likely to be found if the headstone were whole. In some cases, inscriptions are merely obscured by position below ground or behind vegetation, and could be revealed in person, if one were to take care not to damage the stone or grave. To indicate superscript characters in month names, the period punctuation indicates the end of the standard size characters, and the beginning of the superscript characters. Other superscript characters (for example the ordinal letters for numbers, the "r" in Mr., the "rs." in Mrs., and typically the "e" in ye) are not indicated, but should be presumed. For those headstones where there were poems inscibed, these are set off with quotation marks, and "/" indicates the end of each line. There is no indication in the transcription for which characters are italicized, but can be assumed to be the case for most of the poetry. Punctuation was noted where it was clear.
