O. Jameson (1886) NATHANIEL WHITING METCALF, A. M. NATHANIEL WHITING METCALF, son of the Hon. Luther and Lydia (Jenks) Metcalf, was born Aug. 24, 1819, in Medway. He graduated in 1846 from Brown University, Providence, R. I., and devoted his life to teaching in academies and high schools. He was thus employed in Pittsburgh, Penn., in New Marlboro and Medway, Mass. During the later years of his life he labored as a teacher among the freedmen. Mr. Metcalf died Oct. 16, 1871, in New Orleans, La.
