O. Jameson (1886) ELIJAH MORSE, Esq. ELIJAH MORSE, son of Abner and Mille (Leland) Morse, was born Sept. 10, 1785, in Medway, Mass. He graduated in 1809 from Brown University, Providence, R. I., and studied law with Judge Thatcher, of Thomaston, Me., and with the Hon. Timothy Bigelow, of Boston, Mass. Having completed his legal studies he was admitted to the Suffolk Bar, and was associated with Judge Bigelow in the practice of his profession. He married Mary Jackson, daughter of Dr. Jackson, of Edinburgh, Scotland, whose father was one of the Aldermen of London, England. Mr. Morse represented ward seven, of Boston, in 1824-1825, in the Common Council. He was elected a Representative to the General Court of Massachusetts but declined a reelection. Mr. Morse died Aug. 23, 1831, at the early age of forty-six years, in Boston, deeply lamented by a numerous circle of friends and acquaintances, and sincerely mourned by the profession which he so ably represented.
