Written: February 19, 1649 Christopher Stanley, 19 [12] 1649. I Christopher Stanley of Boston being now sick -- Unto Richard Benet [Bennett?] three Acres of land adjoyning my orchard, with half a house neere John Gallops point. The other half to George Benet. To Sarah Cotton, dau. of Mr. John Cotton fyve pounds. To Mary Wilson, the dau. of Mr. John Wilson fyve pounds. TO the Church of Christ here at Boston foure pounds. For the maintenance of the free schoole at Boston, a parcel of land lyding neare to the water side, and foure rodds in length backward. To each of the teaching and ruling Elders of Boston, and to their wifes a paire of gloves of fyve shillings price. All the rest of my estate, vizt, my now dwelling house out houses and garden, my house and land lying towards Charlestowne, land about twelve acres, with all the rest of my estate unto my wife Susan, sole executrix. 27th day of the 1st month, 1645. In presence of Thomas Savage and Thomas Marshall. Deposed by Thomas Savage and Tho. Marshall the 19 [1] 1649, before the Court in ppetnam rei memoriam, and to be recorded, Iner. Newell Sec: The Inventory of the estate of Christopher Stanley amounted to 349 pounds, 16s. He deceased about the 27th of 1st mo. 1646. [?] Footnotes: Middlebrook is a stream flowing spontaneously from Charles River to Dedham, through the channel had been enlarged by cutting. It crosses the S. W. corner of the town, and falls into Nepottset. Harris' Hist. Dorchester. He settled in Dorchester, freeman, 1633, representative from 1634 to 1636, member arco 1637 its captain 1642, assistant 1637 to 1644. Returning to England was Lieut. Col. under Rainsborough, and died in the time of the civil wars, at Lincoln, England. Farmer.
