David Samuelsen - January 2002 ************************************************************************ Worcester Co MA Wills Vol. 56 page 209 Amos Aldrich probated 28 June 1821 at Cumberland, Providence, RI Be it remembered that I, Amos Aldrich of Cumberland in the County of Providence and State of Rhode Island, yeoman, being weak in body, but of sound and perfect mind & memory, do make & ordain this my last Will and Testament, in manner & form following that is to say. First. My just debts and funeral charges to be first paid by my Executors hereinafter named. Secondly. To my beloved wife Sally Aldrich I give devise and bequeath during therm of her natural life one third part of all my Estate both Real & Personal. Thirdly. To my two sons, Joseph C. Aldrich and Baruch Aldrich I give and devise to them their heirs and assigns forever, all the land & Buildings thereon standing that was given to me in the Will of my Brother Baruch Aldrich, deceased, to be so divided between them, that the said Joseph C. Aldrich shall have the new Brick house where he now lives. I further give and devise as aforesaid to the said Joseph C. Aldrich and Baruch Aldrich, to them, their heirs and assigns, a lot of land laying in Mendon in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, containing by estimation, twenty two acres, joining land of John Southwick and the heirs of Benedict Remington, deceased, or however otherwise the same may be bounded. It is the same that was given to me in and by the last will of my honored Father Robert Aldrich as I further give and devise to the said Joseph C. Aldrich & Baruch Aldrich, their heirs and assigns, to be divided as aforesaid a small lot of Land lying Mendon aforesaid containing one acre & twenty rods, and is the same land I bought of Edward Pickering deceased, for the particular boundaries of which reference being had to the Deed from said Pickering to me. Fourthly. To my two sons James Aldrich & John J. Aldrich, I give and devise to them their heirs & assigns all the remaining part of my Real Estate except the House and lot of land I own in Smithfield, being land I bought of Amasa Bagley) to be equally divided between them. Fifthly. To my son Varnum Aldrich, I give and devise to him his heirs and assigns the before excepted House and lot of land lying in Smithfield, and bounds on the road from Cumberland to Smithfield Bank, and nearly opposite the Dwelling house of Farnum Harris. I further give and bequeath to the said Varnum Aldrich, all the Securities I hold against him. Sixthly. To my four sons Joseph C. Aldrich, Baruch Aldrich, James Aldrich and John J. Aldrich and to my daughter Lydia Capron, I give and bequeath all the residue and remainder of my Person Property to be equally divided between them. Lastly. I hereby nominate constitute and appoint my two sons James Aldrich & Joseph C. Aldrich my sole executors of this my last Will and Testament, hereby revoking and annulling all and together & former wills by me made and establishing this & this only as my last Will and Testament. In Testimony whereof, I do hereunto set my hand & seal this Twenty first day of May in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and twenty.
