David Samuelsen - January 2002 ************************************************************************ Worcester Co MA Vol. 80 page 394 John Aldrich of Northbridge probated first Tuesday of May 1838 I, John Aldrich of Northbridge in the County of Worcester and Commonwealth of Massachusetts being of lawful age and in good health of body and of sound and disposing mind and memory, and being desirous to settle my worldly ordains whilst I have strength and capacity so to do, do make and publish this my last will and testament. And first and principally I commit my soul into the hands of my Creator who gave it; and my body to the earth. Firstly. I give and bequeath to my Wife Anna Aldrich the use and improvement of one third of my real estate during her natural life also the use and improvement of my house, chaise and harness, one cow, and all the household furniture, beds and beding, which she brought to my house when she came to live with me. Secondly. I give and bequeath to my daughters Amety McBride and to Betsy Aldrich, widow to my son John Aldrich, disceased the above named horse, chaise and harness, cow, household furniture, beds and bedding from and after my Wife's decease, or such part of them as shall then be remaining to be equally divided between them, their heirs and assigns forever. Thirdly. I give and bequeath to my granddaughter Anna Elizabeth Aldrich two hundred dollars to be paid in one year after my decease; also all the household furniture, beds and beding and wearing apparel which belonged to her deceased mother. Likewise the sole use and occupancy of the south east chamber, and a privilege in the garret and cellar of my dwellinghouse with a privilege to pass and repass to and from the same solong, as she remains unmarried. Fourthly. I give an dbequeath to my daughter Amety Mc Bride all the rents, profits and income of one half of my Real Estate during her natural life, to be placed in the hands of Benjamin Wheeler in trust for her sole use, support and maintenance of her and her children that are or may be hereafter lawfully born of her and for no other purpose whatsoever. Fifthly. I give and devise to my grandchildren Mary Ann, Benjamin, Sarah, John and Lucy Mc Bride children of my daughter Amety Mc Bride, and all the other lawful children that may hereafter be born of my said daughter Amety Mc Bride one half of all my Real Estate, to be equally divided between them from and after the decease of my said daughter Amety, to be and remain to them, their heirs and assigns forever, and further my will is that the last named devisees have that half of my Real Estate of which my daughter Amety Mc Bride has the rents and profits. Sixthly. I give and devise to my grand Children Horace C., Charles B, and Olive A. Aldrich children of my son John Aldrich, deceased; all the other half of my Real Estate, to be equally divided between them, their heirs and assigns forever. Seventhly. All the rest residue and remainder of my Goods and chattels (if any should remain after paying all my just debts, funeral chares and the legacy herein before named) I give and bequeath to all my above named grandchildren (excepting the said Anna Elizabeth Aldrich) to be equally divided between them their heirs and assigns forever. Lastly. I hereby nominate, constitue and appoint my friend Benjamin Wheeler my sole executor of this my last Will and Testament and establishing and confirming this and this only as and for my last Will and Testament. In witness whereof I John Aldrich the Testator to this my last Will and Testament have set my hand and seal this sixth day of tenth month in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty.
