And Firstly. I give, devise and bequeath unto my beloved Wife Rosamon Richardson the occupation & improvement of the one half of my home farm, meaning as my home farm all the land and buildings under my own improvement where I now live to hold the same during her natural life. I also give and bequeath unto her all the furniture she brought into my family and also all such furniture as we have gotten, since our intermarriage to make good the wear of hers. Also such chaise as I may own at that time with thereof my cows to be selected by her from such as I may own at my decease. As also One Thousand dollars in cash to be paid her by my Executor in six months from the time of my decease. Secondly. I give devise and bequeath unto my five grandsons David, Mowry, Caleb, William and Levi Richardson Children of my son Joseph Richardson Jr. formerly of said Uxbridge deceased, and in the event of any of these dying during my life thereto the survivors to have and to hold to them their heirs and assignes as tenants in common all my interest in the Nehemiah Aldrich farm so called. Also so much of the Humus farm, so called, as is Easterly of the road, leading from the house formerly occupied by Mr. John Thayer late of Douglas deceased to the house formerly occupied by Thaddeus Thayer late of said Douglas. I also give them Two Thousand dollars in cash to be paid by my Executor in six months from my decease to be equally divided among them. Thirdly. To my grandson Joseph A. Taft I give bequeath and devise to him his heirs and assignes forever all the residue of the Humus farm, so called, not devised as above to the Children of my late son Joseph Richardson. I also give and devise unto the said Joseph R. Taft Five Hundred Dollars to be paid him at the age of twenty one years by my Executor with compound interest computed on the same from the time of my decease. Fourthly. To my two Grandsons Brown and Anan Richardson Sons of Dexter Richardson, I give bequeath and devise all my home farm before referred to And should either of them die in my life time, then to the survivor to have and to hold the same to them their heirs and assignes forever. Subject however to the life estate of their grandmother Rosamon Richardson as give her in this Will. Fifthly To my two grandsons Bezaleel and Joseph Richardson, sons of Simon Richardson, I give devise and bequeath all the estate I purchased of Leonard Taft, however bounded or described, as also a lot of wood land conveyed to me by Isreal Aldrich, situated on the southerly side of the road leading from Naham(?) Morse’s to Seth Wheelock’s to hold to them and their heirs forever subject however to the occupation and improvement of the same by their father Simon Richardson until they shall arrive at the age of twenty one years. And in the event of the death of either of them in my life time the whole of said estate. I give and bequeath as aforesaid to the survivor. And I do hereby give unto the said Simon the use and improvement of the estate given to his sons as aforesaid until his two sons or the survivor of them shall arrive at the age of twenty one years. I do also give and devise unto the said Simon Richardson One Thousand dollars to be paid by my Executor in six months from the time of my decease. Sixthly. To the four daughters of my son Simon Richardson now living I give and bequeath all my interest in the Village Bank being twenty one share in the joint stock of the same being five and one fourth shares each. Their father however to take the dividends in the same until they shall severally arrive at the age of eighteen years or shall intermarry as shall first happen. In the event of the death of either of said daughters of my son Simon before they shall be entitled to the dividends on said stock the whole of the same shall be equally divided between the survivors of them. Seventhly. I do hereby constitute and appoint my son Dexter Richardson, sole Executor of this my last Will with directions to pay all my just debts and funeral expenses from any of my property not specifically disposed of as aforesaid, as also all the Legacies aforesaid. Eighthly. I give devised and bequeath all the rest and residue of my property of every description not before disposed of and not necessary to the payment of any just debts, funeral charges and expenses of Administration on my estate to so many of the before named sons of my late son Joseph Richardson, Jr. as may be living at the time of my decease and to the said Dexter Richardson and Simon Richardson my surviving sons to have and to hold the same to them and their respective heirs and assignes in the following viz(?), The five sons of my late son Joseph Richardson, Jr. or the survivors of them in the event of the death of any of them in my life time to take one share or one third part to be equally divided between them. The said Dexter Richardson to take one third and the said Simon the remaining third part, to hold the same to them and their respective heirs and assignes forever. In testimony of all which I have hereunto set my hand and seal this sixteenth day of August in the year of our Lord Eighteen hundred and thirty four. Signed, sealed, published, pronounced and declared by the said Joseph Richardson to be his last Will and Testament in presence of us who in his presence and in the presence of each other have at his request subscribed our names as witnesses to the execution of the same. Probate Worcester SS To all people to whom these presents shall come, Nathl. Paine Esq. Judge of the Probate of Wills, ___, in the Counthy of Worcester, within the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, sendeth greeting. Know ye, that on the First Tuesday of April Anno Domini 1835, the Instrument hereunto annexed purporting to be the last Will and Testament of Joseph Richardson late of Uxbridge in the County of Worcester deceased, was presented for Probate by Dexter Richardson the Executor therein named, their present Bezaleel Taft, Jr. Elisha Southwick and Mowry Lee the Witnesses thereto subscribed, who made oath, that they saw the said testator sign and seal, and heard him declare the said Instrument to be his last Will and Testament and that they subscribed their names together, as witnesses to the Execution thereof in the said Testators presence, and that he was then (to the best of the dep__ment’s(?) judgment) of sound and disposing mind. I do therefore Prove, Approve, and Allow of the said Instrument as the Last Will and Testament of the above named deceased, and commit the Administration thereof in all matters the same concerning, and of his Estate whereof he died ______ and _______ in said Commonwealth unto the before named Executor well and faithfully to execute the said Will, and to administer the estate of the said deceased according thereto; who accepted said trust, and has given Bond to exhibit an Inventory and to render an Account (upon oath) of his proceedings, when thereunto lawfully required.
