Balcom, Samuel will, Douglas, Worcester co, MA Transcribed from SAMPUBCO copy by Sheryl Romasco Worcester, MA Will book Douglas 18-253 Will of Samuel Balcom In the name of God Amen the 14th day of February one thousand seven hundred eighty two in the sixth year of American Independence, I Samuel Bolkcom of Douglas in the county of Worcester and Commonwealth of Massachusetts I am not very sick but in this free exercise of my reason, thanks be to God desirous to settle what worldly estate the Lord hath lent me, do ordain this my last will and testament as follows __ First I command my soul to god who gave it and my body to the dust whence it was ____ to be decently buried at the des__tion of my Executor. And I do hereby appoint my two sons John and David Bolkcom joint and sole executors of this my last will and testament hereby directing them to discharge any funeral charges and all the just debts I owe. Next I will that my wife Susannah Bolkcom have a comfortable maintanence from my two youngest sons Moses and Aaron, and that my executors above named take special care that she has house room and furniture and maintainance in health and in sickness as long as she lives. Likewise I give to my daughter Susana the wife of Benjamin Robbins her choice of my beds one bed and the whole of my pewter after my wives decease it being her full portion with what she has had Likewise I will that my sons Samuel, John, David, Bezaliel, Moses and Aaron have the remainder of my indoor moveables divided equally among them after their mother decease. Except I will that David have in the division of said indoor moveables the value twenty shillings, lawful money more than an equal portion with his brothers to make what he has already had out of my estate equal to what his brothers have had of my estate. Also I will that my wearing apparel be divided equally among my sons after my decease and to my two youngest sons,Moses and Aaron Bolkcom, I give my home farm with all the building _______ _______ to them and their heirs forever except their mothers dowrey as above mentioned. And I will that my debts be paid with my out lands __ and outdoor moveable if the price of them is sufficient if not the home farm must be rented except my wives dowrey till the debts are paid and further I desire my two youngest sons Moses and Aaron to live on the land I give them with their mother and take care of her if it must be rented let them ____ and make what profits they can if it should be agreeable and pay remaining debts as fast as they are able This being in my view an equal distribution of my estate I command my family to God our Almighty savior I desire them to be satisfied with my will herein And I do hereby revoke all other wills of mine of this nature and establish this as my last will and testament. In witness whereof I have here unto my hand and seal the day and year abovesaid. Signed sealed and pronounced by the said Samuel Bolkcom to be his last will and testament in presence of - Jonathan Whipple Jabez B Dexter Isaac Stone Worcester, to all people to whome these presents shall come, Joseph Dorr, Esq Judge of the Probate of wills in the county of Worcester within the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Know ye that on the seventh day of January AD 1783 the instrument hereunto annexed purporting the last will and testament of Samuel Bolkcom late of Douglas in said county, ____ deceased was presented for probate by John Bolkcom and David Bolkcom the Executors therein named them present Jonathan Whipple and Isaac Stone two of the witnesses hands(?) subscribed who made oath that they saw the said testator sign seal and heard him declare this said instrument to be his last will and testament and that they with Jabez B. Dexter the other witness subscribed their names together as witnesses to the execution thereof in the said testators presence and that he was then to the best of their judgments of sound and disposing mind. I do prove approve and allow of the said instrument as the last will and testament of the before named deceased and do commit the ____ them in all matters the same concerning and of his estate where of died signed and prospered in said county unto John and David Bolkcom the before named Executors well and faithfully to execute the said will and to administer the estate of the said deceased according thereto who _____ to their said ___ and they shall exhibit an inventory of all said deceased estate into the probate office according to law. And they shall render an account upon oath of their proceedings whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal of office this Day and year above written.
