Transcribed from SAMPUBCO copy by Sheryl Romasco Worcester, MA Will book Vol. 4 Page 248 Upton, MA JOHN SADLER'S WILL In the name of God Amen the Eleventh Day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and fifty three I John Sadler of Upton in the County of Worcester in the Province of the Massachusetts Bay in New England Gentlemen being very sick and weak in Body but of perfect mind and memory thanks be given unto God therefore calling unto mind the mortality of my Body and Knowing that it is appointed for all men once to Die do make and ordain this my Last Will and Testament that is to say principally and first of all I give and recommend my soul into the Hands of God that gave it and my body I recommend to the Earth to be buried in Decent Christian Burial at the discretion of My Executor nothing doubting but at the General Resurrection I shall receive the same again by the mighty Power of God and as touching such worldly Estate where with it hath pleased God to bless me in this Life I Give demise and dispose of the same in the following manner and form That is to Say Imprimus my will is that all my just and lawfull debts together with my funeral charges shall be well and truly paid out of my Personal Estate by my Executor hereafter named in convenient time after my decease Item I hereby give and bequeath unto my dearly beloved wife Susannah Sadler and to her heirs and assigns forever all and Every part and parcel of my household goods that came to me by my said wife also one third part of my real estate during her widowhood and also one Lower Room in the East End of my Dwelling house is hereby given to her my said wife Susannah Sadler during her widowhood Item I hereby give and bequeath unto my well loved son John Sadler all my full right of land in a new settlement Known by the name of Hunt Town to be to him my said son John to be to him his heirs and assigns forever and I do moreover give and bequeath unto him my said son John Sadler and to his heirs and assigns forever the full sum of one hundred and seven pounds lawfull money of this Province at the date of these presents to be paid to my said son or to his heirs or assigns as here after in this my will may be directed. Item I hereby give and bequeath unto my well beloved son Joseph Sadler and to his heirs assigns forever one half of my land with the Buildings and apport______ thereto belonging lying and being in Upton aforesaid to my said son Joseph Sadler his heirs and assigns forever and also one half of my personall Estate not already disposed of by this my Last will Either lying in money Ð Bonds or other moveable Estate upon his discharging of legacies hereafter mentioned or otherwise the bequest to be null and void to all intents and purposes Item I give and bequeath unto my well beloved son Abial Sadler and to his heirs and assigns forever the full and just sum of Eighty Pounds Lawfull money of this Province to be paid as hereafter may be directed in this my last will as lawfull money now stands established Item I give and bequeath unto my well beloved son Stephen Sadler his heirs and assigns forever the full and just sum of twenty seven pounds lawfull money as it now stands established by Law over and above what he has already received to be paid to him as shall be hereafter directed in this my last will Item I give and bequeath to my well beloved son Ebenezer Sadler and his heirs and assigns forever the other half of my land and undis--osed off Lying and being in the Town of Upton aforesaid with the building and app______ ____ belonging and also the other half of my personal estate not bequeathed lying in Bond money or other moveable Estate upon his discharging the legacies hereafter mentioned or otherwise the bequest to be void and null and of none effect to all intents and purposes Item I give and bequeath unto my well beloved Daughter Hannah Sadler and to her heirs and assigns forever one Chest of drawer which came to me by her mother also her own mother wearing apparel and Gold ring and furthermore I give to my beloved daughter aforesaid the full and just sum of Sixty Eight Pounds Lawfull money of this Province as it now is established by law to be paid in manner hereafter eli--ceted by this my will Furthermore my will is that if I shall decease leaving my said daughter unmarried that my Executor hereafter named furnish her with a Decent suit of morning apparel as apart of my funeral charge. Lastly, I hereby injoin and oblige my well beloved sons Joseph Sadler and Ebenezer Sadler to whom I have given by this my Last Will and Testament my real and personal Estate that they each of them do pay or cause to be paid the above said legacies in the manner to whom I do now direct namely my said son Joseph to pay or cause to be paid one hundred and seven pounds Lawfull money as before expressed to his Eldest brother John Sadler and fifty four pounds lawfull money to his Brother Abial Sadler Each of the legacies to be paid within one year after my decease Also I do hereby injoyn my said son Ebenezer Sadler to pay or cause to be paid to his Brother Abial Sadler Twenty six pounds Lawfull money part of the above granted legacy And also sixty eight pounds to his sister Hannah Sadler And also twenty seven pounds to his brother Stephen Sadler Each of these Legacies to be in Lawfull money and paid within one year after my decease Except that to his sister Hannah which shall -y upon lawfull interest from one year after my decease until the shall be married or arrive at the age of eighteen years and then to be paid both principal and interest. Further I hereby Constitute make and ordain my well beloved and esteemed sons Joseph Sadler and Ebenezer Sadler Joseph of Uxbridge and Ebenezer of Upton aforesaid husbandman to be the sole executor of this my last will and testament to execute and perform the same and I do hereby nullifi disanul revoke renounce and make void all former wills Testaments legacies bequests and Executors and do hereby Ratifi and confirm this and no other to be my Last will and testament in testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this day and year herein first mentioned John Sadler (seal) Signed Sealed Published Pronounced and declared by the within mentioned John Sadler to be his Last will and testament in presence of us the subscribers Ð Elisha Fish Asaph(?) Rice John Walkins Worcester SS To all people to whom these presents shall come Joseph Wilder Esq Judge of the Probate of Wills and in the County of Worcester within the Province of the Massachusetts Bay in New England Sendeth Greeting I know ye that on the 7th day of November Anno Domini 1753 the instrument hereunto annexed purporting the Last will and testament of John Sadler Late of Upton in said County and Province gentleman died was presented for probate by Joseph Sadler and Ebenezer Sadler the Executors therein named then present Elish Fish and Asaph Rice two of the witnesses thereto subscribed who made oath that they saw the said Testator sign seal and heard him declare the said instrument to be his last will and Testament and that they with John Walkins subscribed their names together as witnesses to the Execution thereof in said testators presence and that he was then to their best of their judgment of sound and disposing mind. I do prove approve and allow of the said instrument as the last will and testament of before named deceased and do commit the administration thereof in all matters the same concerning and of his estate whereof he died seized and possessed in said county unto the before Executor well and faithfully to execute the said will and to administer the estate of the deceased according thereto who accepted of their said trust and they have given Bond to fulfill the will and they shall render an account (upon oath) of their proceedings when thereunto Lawfully required In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal of office the day and year above written Joseph Wilder
