Sadler, Stephen will, Upton, Worcester co, MA Transcribed from SAMPUBCO copy by Sheryl Romasco Worcester, MA Will book Vol. 41 Page 111 Upton, MA STEPHEN SADLER'S WILL In the name of God Amen I Stephen Sadler of Upton in the County of Worcester and Commonwealth of Massachusetts Gentleman, being weak in Body but of a sound and perfect mind and memory blessed be Almighty God for the same do make and publish this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following Ð that is to say First I give and bequeath unto my beloved Wife Elizabeth Sadler all the household furniture and her wearing apparel that she brought to me, and also the rest of the household furniture that is not otherwise disposed of in this Will and afterward mentioned- and also all the livestock of all kinds that I shall have in my possession at the time of my decease and also all the provisions of all kinds and the books excepting two, and also one fourth part of all the produce of the Farm that I sold to Mr. Zyrus (?) Newton, agreeable to the conditions of the Bond from said Newton to me, reference thereto being had and also one hundred dollars to be paid to her, that is to say, Ten Dollars a year, to begin in one year after my decease, so on from year to year till all shall be paid. Item I give and bequeath to my Grandson William Perham Forty Dollars, one third part to be paid him in one year after my decease, and so on from year to year till all is paid Item I give and bequeath to my Grandson Sylvanus Perham Twenty five Dollars and all my farming utensils. Item I give and bequeath to my Grand Daughter Sarah Pierce, wife of Josiah Pierce, Forty Dollars one third part to be paid him in one year after my decease, and so on from year to year till all is paid. Item I give and bequeath to my Grand Daughter Hannah Snow, Forty Dollars, one third to be paid in one year and year to year till all is paid. Item I give and bequeath to my daughter Hannah Stockwell wife of Nathaniel Stockwell Twenty Dollars, the above sum with what I have heretofore given her is her full part of my Estate Item I give and bequeath to my grandson Stephen Taft, Twenty Dollars to be paid to him in two years after my decease. Item I give and bequeath to several of my Grand Children, namely Silas Taft, Isreal Taft, Bezaleel Taft, Joel Taft, Otis Taft, Samuel Taft, Elisha Taft and Elizabeth Taft Fifteen Dollars each of them. one third part to be paid in one year after my decease and so from year to year till all is paid. Item I give and bequeath to my Grandson Abel Munro Forty Dollars and all my wearing apparel. one third to be paid in one year after my decease and on from year to year till all is paid. The above sum with what I have given him is his full share of my estate. Item I give and bequeath to my Daughter Joanna Whitney wife of Ephraim Whitney Ninety Dollars, one third part to be paid in one year after my decease, so from year to year till all is paid and also one book of President Edwards works; the above sum with what I have already given her is her full share of my estate. Item I give and bequeath to three of my Grand Children namely Anselm Wood, James Wood and Amos Wood Thirty three Dollars to each of them one third part to be paid in one year after my decease and so from year to year till all is paid the above with what I gave their Mother Sarah Wood wife of Amos Wood is their full share of my Estate. Item I give and bequeath to my daughter Jemima Vial, wife of James Vial, the one half of all my money, notes and dues that shall remain after the above legacies and my just debts are lawfully and justly discharged_ and also two old feather beds, one cover--d, five kitchen chairs, and one great chair, one fall table and one chest, one cheese tub, and one book of President Edwards work Item I give and bequeath to Four of my Grand Children namely Elisha Taft, Mary Taft, Hiram Taft and Isreal Taft the one half of all my money, notes and dues that shall remain after the above legacies and my just debts are lawfully and justly discharged_ and it is my will that the above said sum be equally divided between said four Grand Children And lastly I hereby appoint Elisha Taft and James Vial two of my Sons in law, sole Executors of this my last will and Testament hereby revoking a; former Wills by me made. And I do hereby order and direct my Executors herein named to pay and discharge all my just debts and funeral charges and expenses, out of the Estate that I leave at my decease and pay and discharge the several legacies mentioned in said Will according to the true intent and meaning of the same. Anno Domini 1811 the Instrument hereunto annexed purporting the last Will and Testament of Stephen Sadler late of Upton in the County of Worcester was presented for Probate by Elisha Taft and James Vial the Executors therein named; the present Jonathan Batchellor and Rufus Johnson, two of the Witnesses thereto subscribed, who made oath that they saw the said Testator sign, seal and heard him declare the said Instrument to be his last Will and Testament and that they, with Zyrus Newton subscribed their names together as witnesses to the Execution thereof in the said Testators presence and that he was then (to the best of their judgment) of sound and disposing mind. I do therefore Prove, Approve and Allow of the said Instrument as the last Will and Testament of the above named Deceased and commit the Administration thereof in all matters the same concerning and of his Estate whereof he died seized and possessed in said Commonwealth unto Elisha Taft and James Vial the before named Executors well and faithfully to execute the said Will, and to administer the Estate of the said Deceased according thereto who accepted said trust and have given Bond to exhibit an Inventory of said Estate into the [probate Office in said County within three months and to render an Account (upon oath) of their proceedings, when thereunto lawfully required In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal of Office the day and year above written Nathaniel Paine
