Apprenticeship of Peter Reid (Son of Thomas Reid)

The Court binds Peter Reid and Orphan aged Seventeen years on the Sixteenth of 
November Next; by and with the Consent of Michael Kershner, his GrandFather, 
to Robert M. Clay until he arrives at the age of Twenty One Years, to learn 
the Art and trade of Cabinet Maker. The said Robert M. Clay to give him Nine 
Months day Schooling, three Months of said Schooling be given in the first 
year of his Apprenticeship, to give him ten dollars in Cash or Clothes at the 
Option of the apprentice when free; and to give said Apprentice Sufficient 
Meat, drink, Washing, lodging and Clothing during his said Apprenticeship.
                                                                     
(Since Michael Kershner died in April 1826, This Apprenticeship must have 
occurred after the boys fifteenth birthday in November 1825 and the death of 
his Grandfather.)


Apprenticeship of Peter Reid is changed

The Court by and with the Consent of Robert M. Clay bind Peter Reid heretofore 
bound to said Robert M. Clay to learn the art and trade of a Cabinet Maker; as 
an apprentice to Elnathan Rupele to learn the trade of BlackSmith until he 
arrives at the age of Twenty One years. The said Peter Reid aged Eighteen 
years on the sixteenth of November Next; the said Rupele to give him three 
Months day Schooling in the last year of his apprenticeship. To give him Ten 
dollars in Cash when free and to find the said Apprentice sufficient Meat, 
Drink, Washing, lodging and clothing during his apprenticeship.
Court adjourneing Until tomorrow Morning 9 O'Clock
