This Indenture made this Eighth day of June in the year of our Lord Eighteen hundred and fourteen, Between Jaclob Hoblitzell of Allegany County and State of Maryland, of the one part, and Thomas Reid of the County and State aforesaid of the other part, Witnesseth that the said Jacob Hoblizell for and in consideration of the sum of four hundred Dollars, Current money of the United States, to him in hand paid by the said Thomas Reid, before the Sealing and Delivery of these presents, the receipt whereof he the Said Jacob Hoblitzell doth hereby acknowledge and from every part and parcel thereof, doth hereby Acquit, enumerate and Discharge the said Thomas Reid, his Heirs, Executors and Administrators, he the said Jacob Hoblitzell, hath granted, Bargained, Sold, aliened, enfeoffed, and confirmed, and by these presents doth grant, Bargain, Sell, alien, enfeoff and confirm, unto the said Thomas Reid his Heirs and assigns, all that Lot or portion of Ground lying and being in the Town of Cumberland, County and State aforesaid, Known and distinguished on the plat of said Town by Lot Numbered two hundred and Seventy four fronting on the west Side of Mechanich Street, together with all and Singular, the Buildings, Improvements, rights, liberties, previledges, hereditaments and appurtenances whatsoever thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining and the reversions and remainders, rents, issues and profits thereof, and all the Estate, right, title and Interest whatsoever, of him the said Jacob Hoblitzell, both at Law and in Equity, or, in to and out of the said Lot or portion of ground and premises hereby Bargained and Sold and every part and parcel thereof. To Have and To Hold, the Lot or portion of ground numbered two hundred and Seventy four, so as aforesaid Described, together with the Buildings and appurtenances, and all and Singular, other the premises hereby bargained and Sold, and every part and parcel thereof, with their and every of their appurtenances unto the said Thomas Reid, his Heirs and assigns forever. (Nevertheless he the Said Thomas Reid his Heirs or assigns, Yielding and paying to Thomas Beall of Samuel, his Heirs or assigns, one Dollar current money of the United States, ground rent, on the Said Lot, on the first Day of January annually forever) and to and for no other use intent or purpose whatsoever, and the Said Jacob Hoblitzell for himself, his Heirs Executors and Administrators doth hereby covenant, grant, promise and agree to and with the Said Thomas Reid his heirs, executors, Administrators or assigns,that he the Said Jacob Hoblitzell and his Heirs the Said Lot or portion of ground, and premisis, hereby bargained and Sold, and every part and parcel thereof with the appurtenances thereunto belonging to him the Said Thomas Reid his heirs and assigns, against him the Said Jacob Hoblitzell and his Heirs and against all and every person or persons whatsoever claiming or to claim under him or them or any of them, any right title or Interest in and to the Same or any part thereof, Shall and will hereafter, forever Defend by these presents. In Witness Whereof the Said Jacob Hoblitzell hath hereunto set his hand and affixed his Seal the Day and year first herein before written. Signed Sealed and Delivered in presence of us Jacob Hoblitzell (seal) Jn, Scott, Geo, Hoffman Maryland, Allegany County to wit, Be it remembered that on this eighth day of June in the year of our Lord eighteen hundred and fourteen, personally appears, Jacob Hoblitzell party Grantor within named before us the Subscribers, two Justices of the Peace in and for the State and County aforesaid, and acknowledges the within Deed or Instrument of writing, to be his act and Deed, and the Lot and premises therein mentioned, and thereby bargained and Sold, to be the right and Estate of the within named Thomas Reid party Granted, also therein named, his heirs and assigns forever, according to the purport, true Intent and meaning of the Said Deed or Instrument of writing, and the Acts of Assembly in Such case made and provided. And Now at the Same time also personally appears Ammy Hoblitzell, before us two Justices as aforesaid, and Acknowledges the within Deed or instrument of writing to be her Act and Deed, and the Lot and premises therein mentioned to be the right and Estate of the within named Thomas Reid, his heirs and assigns forever and the Said Ammy Hoblitzell being by us privately examined, apart from and out of the Hearing of her husband, Whether She doth make her Acknoledgement of the Same willingly and freely and without being induced thereto by fear or threats of ill usage by her Husband or fear of his Displeasure, Acknowledges that She doth make her Acknowledgements of the Same willingly and freely, and without being induced thereto by fear or threats of, or ill usage by her husband or fear of his Displeasure.
