All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/md/mdfiles.htm ************************************************ Patent Record “Mountain Tract” to John Perrin Frederick (now Allegany) County, Maryland Description: BC & GS 23, Pages 189-190 Maryland State Archives No.: S11-123 Location: 1/23/3/33 April 28, 1763 Mr. John Perrins } Frederick £- Know Ye that Whereas John Perrin’s of Frederick County by his his Patent 32 acres} Humble Petition to our Agents for Management of Land Affairs within this Pro - Mountain Tract } vince did set forth that there was about Five hundred Acres of Vacant Land lying and being in the County aforesaid and joining Town Creek on the North West and South East Sides thereof and also joining a Tract of Land called Sink hole Bottom in the Possession of the Petitioner Partly Cultivated by means where of the Petitioner conceived the same could not be taken up by a common Warrant, therefore humbly Prayed a Special Warrant to Effect and Secure it and that on return of a Certificate of such Survey be complying with all requisites usual in Such Cases might have our Grant issue unto him thereon which was Granted him and accordingly a Warrant on the thirteenth day of December Seventeen hundred and Sixty two unto him for that Purpose did issue. In Pursuance whereof it is Certified into our Land Office that there was Surveyed and laid out for and in the Name of him the said John Perrins the Quantity of thirty two acres of Land for which Rights was made good at the time of Granting said Warrant according to Charles Lord Baron of Baltimore our Great Grandfather of Noble Memory his Instructions to Charles Carroll Esquire his then agent bearing Date at London the Twelfth day of September Seventeen hundred and Twelve and Registered in our Secretarys Office of our said Province Together with a Paragraph of our Dear father Instructions bearing Date at London the fifteenth day of December Seventeen hundred and thirty Eight and Registered in our Land Office. We do therefore hereby grant unto him the said John Perrins all that Tract or Parcel of Land called Mountain Tract lying and being in the County aforesaid. Beginning at a bounded white oak standing in a little Holler on the East side of a small Run that runs into Murleys Run a branch of Town Creek and running thence North fifty four degrees West thirty Perches North five Degrees East Seventy five Perches South Seventy Degrees West thirty nine Perches South Seven Degrees West Sixty Perches South thirteen Degrees West eighty Perches then by a straight Line to the Beginning Tree Containing and now laid out for thirty two acres of Land according to the Certificate of Survey thereof taken and returned into our Land Office bearing Date the twenty eighth day of April Seventeen hundred and Sixty three and there remaining together with all Rights Profits Benefits and Privileges thereunto belonging Royal Mines excepted. To have and To hold the same unto him the Said John Perrins his Heirs and Assigns for ever to be holden of Us and our Heirs as of our Manor of Conogocheige in free and common Soccage by Fealty only for all manner of Services. Yielding and Paying therefore yearly unto Us and our Heirs at our receipt at our City of Saint Marys at the two most usual Feasts in the Year Viz: The feast of the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary and Saint Michael the Arch Angel by even and equal Portions the Rent of One Shill- [1] Patent Record “Mountain Tract” to John Perrin Frederick (now Allegany) County, Maryland Description: BC & GS 23, Pages 189-190 Maryland State Archives No.: S11-123 Location: 1/23/3/33 April 28, 1763 - continued - ing and three Pence half Penny Sterling in Silver or Gold and for a fine upon every Alienation of the said Land or any Part or Parcel thereof one whole years Rent in Silver or Gold or the full Value thereof in such Commodities as we and our Heirs or Such Officer or Officers as shall be appointed by Us and our Heirs from Time to Time to Collect and Receive the same shall accept in Discharge thereof at the Choice of Us and our Heirs or such Officer or Officers aforesaid. Provided That if the said sum for a fine for Alienation shall not be paid unto Us and our Heirs or Such Officer or Officers aforesaid before such Alienation and the said Alienation entered upon Record either in the Provincial Court or County Court where the same Parcel of Land lieth within one Month next after such alienation then the said Alienation shall be void and of no Effect. Given under our Great Seal of our Said Province of Maryland this twenty Eighth day of April Anno Domini Seventeen hundred and Sixty three.
