MD Land Records Book U: Pages 370-373 Accession No.: CR-37,523 MD State Archives No.: CM485-24 Transacted: November 15, 1773 Recorded: December 17, 1773 This Indenture made on the Fifteenth Day of November in the Year of our Lord one Thousand Seven Hundred and Seventy three Between Edward Perrin, John Perrin and Joseph Perrin of Frederick County and Province of Maryland of the one part and John Tweeg of the County and Province aforesaid of the other part. Witnesseth that Edward Perrin, John Perrin and Joseph Perrin for and in Consideration of the Sum of Twenty Five pounds Current Money of Maryland, to them in hand paid by John Tweeg the Receipt whereof, they the said Edward Perrin, John Perrin and Joseph Perrin doth hereby acknowledge and themselves fully satisfied and content, and of every part and parcel, these doth acquit and Discharge the said John Tweeg, his heirs and assigns for ever by these presents them the said Edw’d Perrin, John Perrin and Joseph Perrin hath granted, bargained, sold, aliened and confirmed and by these presents doth absolutely give, grant, bargain, sell, alien and confirm unto the said John Tweeg, his heirs & assigns for ever all that messuage (equates to a dwelling house and includes outbuildings, orchards, court-yards and gardens) or parcel of land called The Three Springs Head situate, lying and being in Frederick County afores’d. Beginning at two bounded white oaks standing on a hill at the head of a branch call W Corleys (may be a clerical error; Murley’s?) Run being a draught of the Old Town Creek and running thence North two and a half degrees, East twelve perches, North eighty seven degrees, East fifty eight perches, North sixty seven degrees, East twenty four perches, South twenty three degrees, East fourteen perches, South twenty six degrees, West forty six perches, South fifty five degrees, West forty two perches, South twenty five degrees, West forty two perches, South sixty five degrees, West seventy three perches, then with a straight line to the beginning trees containing and laid out for fifty acres of land, more or less, together with all houses, buildings and improvements whatsoever to the said tract or parcel of land called The Three Springs Head all and singular the land and premises with the appurtenances and every part and parcel to the said tract of land belonging or in any manner of wise appurtaining and also the reversion (property that has been returned to its former owner or his or her heirs) and reversions, remainder (any amount left over after a division of property) and remainders, rents and services of the said premises and every part thereof and all the estate, right, title, interest, claim and demand whatsoever of the said Edward Perrin, John Perrin and Joseph Perrin of, in and to the said messuage or tract of land and premises and every part and parcel thereof to have and to hold all and singular the premises above mentioned with the appurtenances unto the said John Tweeg, his heirs and assigns for ever. And the said Edward Perrin, John Perrin and Joseph Perrin for them and their heirs doth hereby covenant, promise and agree to and with the said John Tweeg, his heirs and assigns, to warrant and for ever defend the afores’d. fifty acres of land against them and their heirs and against all and every other person or persons whatsoever that shall or will lay any right or title, interest, claim or demand to any part or parcel thereof by, from, or under them the said Edward Perrin, John Perrin and Joseph Perrin. Witness: John Stull I say received by Edw’d Perrin Sam’l Beall Jun’r John Perrin Jos. Perrin Maryland, Frederick County ss: Received this 15th day of November Seventeen Hundred and Seventy three came Edward Perrin, John Perrin and Joseph Perrin party’s to the within Deed and acknowledged the within Deed the land premises therein mention to be the Right and Estate of John Tweeg, his heirs and assigns for ever according to an Act of Assembly in such case made and provided. John Stull Sam’l Beall Jun’r Received 24 of November 1773 of John Tweeg two shillings sterling for an alienation fine (a sum of money paid to the court for the privilege of purchase) on the within mentioned land by order of his Lordship’s Agent. – Wm.
