Estate of Thomas Reid sells Lot #274

The following Deed was recorded November the 18th 1820.
This Indenture made the eighteenth day of Novemebre in the year of our Lord 
eighteen hundred and Twenty between William McMahon of Allegany County in the 
State of Maryland of the one part and John Shroyer of the same County and 
State of the other part. Whereas by a Decree of Allegany County Court as a 
Court of Equity made in the case of John Shroyer and Michael Kershner against 
Mary Reid and others bearing date the twenty eighth day of April in the year 
of our Lord eighteen hundred and nineteen, the above named William McMahon was 
appointed a trustee and authorized and empowered to sell and dispose of Lot 
Number two hundred and Seventy four in the Town of Cumberland for the payment 
of the sums due to John Shroyer and Michael Kershner from Thomas Reid late of 
Allegany County deceased for which the said Thomas Reid had executed to the 
said Shroyer and Kershner a mortgage on the said Lot; that in pursuance of the 
said Decree the said William McMahon did on the Second day of June in the year 
of our Lord eighteen hundred and nineteen sell and dispose of, to the above 
named  John Shroyer the said Lot number Two hundred and Seventy four in the 
Town of Cumberland and for the sum of one hundred and one dollars current 
money. And Whereas the purchase  money for the said Lot and premises hath been 
fully paid and satisfied and the said William McMahon is authorized by the 
said decree to execute a conveyance for the same and to comply with the terms 
of the said Decree the said William McMahon hath agreed to execute these 
presents, Now this Executive Witnesseth that the said William McMahon above in 
consideration of the within and aforegoing, recites promises and also one 
dollar Current money of the United States to him in hand paid by the said John 
Shroyer, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged and himself therewith to 
be paid hath granted bargained, sold, aliened, Released,  Enfeoffed and 
confirmed and by these presents doth grant bargain sell alien release Enfeoff 
and Confirm unto the said John Shroyer his heirs and Assigns forever the said 
Lot number two hundred and Seventy four, in the Town of Cumberland. To Have 
and To Hold the said Lot above described and premises with every of the 
appurtenances unto the said John Shroyer his heirs, and Assigns forever, and 
to and for no other use intent or purpose whatsoever. In Witness whereof the 
said William McMahon hath hereunto set his hand and affixed his seal the day 
and Year first within written

State of Maryland, Allegany County, to wit: Be it remembered that on this 
Eighteenth day of November, in the Year of our Lord Eighteen hundred and 
Twenty, personally appears William McMahon of Allegany County, party grantor, 
mentioned within, Deed or instrument of writing before us the Subscribers two 
Justices of the peace of the State of Maryland for Allegany County aforesaid 
and Acknowledges the said Deed or instrument of writing to be his act and Deed 
and the Lot and premises therein mentioned and thereby bargained and sold to 
be the right and Estate of John Shroyer party grantee also therein named and 
his heis and assigns forever according to the purport true intent and meaning 
of the said Deed or instrument of writing and the acts of assembly in such 
case made and provided.

Additional Comments:
Thomas Reid has Died and this Lot is sold to pay the mortgage which he owed.
