These electronic pages may NOT be reproduced in any format for profit or presentation by other organizations ______________________________________________________________________ John Steele Sr., et ux DEED to Filed and recorded Sept. 29th 1902 11:50 a.m. The Lonaconing Water Company This deed made this twenty seventh day of September, in the year nineteen hundred and two, by and between John Steele, Sr., and Jane Steele, his wife, of the first part, and the Lonaconing Water Company of Allegany County, Maryland, a body corporate of the state of Maryland, party of the second part. Witnessth, that for and in consideration of the sum of five hundred dollars ($500.00) , lawful money, well and truly paid the said parties of the first part by the said party of the second part, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, the said parties of the first part have granted, bargained and sold, and by these presents do grant, bargain, sell and convey to the said party of the second part, its successors and assigns, all that land situated near Koontz Mine near the town of Lonaconing, in Allegany County, and state of Maryland, being part of the land conveyed to the said John Steele Sr., and Jane Steele, his wife, by the New Central Coal Company by deed dated the 23rd day of December, 1897, and recorded among the land records of Allegany County, in Liber T.L. No. 82 folios 414 etc., and described for the land hereby conveyed as follows, to wit- Beginning at a stake and stone South twenty three degrees east sixty four feet from a black maple tree marked with six notches, and running(1) north thirty three degrees west one hundred and eighty feet; (2) north seventeen degrees west one hundred and fifty seven feet to a stake; (3) north forty degrees west two hundred and fifty four feet to a stake; (4) south seventy nine degrees west two hundred and fifty four feet to a stake on the fourth line of the whole tract conveyed to the grantors by the New Central Coal Company, the said stake being eight hundred and twenty feet from the beginning of said fourth line; (5) reversing said original fourth line south ten and one-fourth degrees east eight hundred and twenty feet to a stake and stone at its beginning; (6) reversing the third line of the whole lot north fifty three degrees east four hundred feet to a stake; (7) north thirty nine and one-half degrees east one hundred and fifty feet to the place of beginning, containing six and one-third acres, more or less. Also the right to use all the water from Koontz run which traverses the whole of the tract of land conveyed to the safe parties of the first part by The New Central Coal Company aforesaid for the purpose of supplying water to the inhabitants of the tract of the town of Lonaconing and vicinity for domestic and manufacturing purposes. Provided, however, that the said parties of the first part shall have the right to ---- and to take all the ice from the reservoir to be erected on the land hereby conveyed that they request for their own use, that the said party of the second part shall furnish free of cost to the said parties of the first part sufficient water for the use of a watering trough when the supply is adequate for such purpose; and provided further that the said party of the second part shall maintain a fence at all times around the land hereby conveyed. To have and to hold the above granted property with all and singular the appurtenances the deed unto the said Lonaconing Water Company of Allegany County, Maryland, its successors and assigns forever in fee simple.
