This indenture made the ninth day of December in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety seven between ANDREW RICE of Allegany County and State of Maryland of the one part and Frederick Valentine of the county and state aforesaid of the other part Witnesseth that the said Andrew Rice for and in consideration of the sum of ten pounds current money to him in hand paid by the said Frederick Valentine at or before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt where of the said Andrew Rice doth here by acknowledge and thereof and there from and off and from every part and parcel thereof doth release acquit and discharge the said FREDERICK A. VALENTINE his heirs, Executors administrators and assigners and Every of them by these presents Hath given granted bargained and sold aliened released enfeoffed and confirmed and by these presents doth give grant bargain sell alien release enfeoff and confirm unto him the said Frederick Valentine his heirs and assigns forever all that part tract or parcel of Land lying and being in the county and state aforesaid called the Resurvey of G?unebers G?oodneys (Gumbers) Beginning at a bounded White Oak standing at the end of the fourth line of the aforesaid tract and running thence North ten degrees East forty four perches North thirty two degrees East thirty two perches South eighty degrees East thirty four perches North sixty perches North thirty degrees East thirty two perches South forty eight degrees East forty four perches then South nineteen degrees West eighty perches south thirty five degrees East four perches South forty two degrees West sixty seven perches to a marked hickory then by a straight line to the beginning containing forty three acres and one half an acre more or less together with all houses Buildings Gardens orchards ways waters water courses Timber Trees Woods under woods profits commodities privileges easements advantages and appurtenances to the said parcel of land belonging or in anyway appertaining and the reversion and reversions remainder and remainders rent issues and profits hereof and every part and parcel thereof and all the estate right title interest use trust proper profits herein claim and demand whatsoever of him the said Andrew Rice of in to or out of the said tract or parcel of land and to hold the said tract and parcel of land and premises with its rights members and appurtenances unto him the said Frederick Valentine his heirs and assigns forever and to and for no other use intent or purpose whatsoever and the said Andrew Rice for himself his heirs and all persons claiming onto claim by from or under him or them shall and will warrant and forever defend by these presents. In witness whereof the said Andrew Rice hath hereunto set his hand and affixed his seal the day and year above written. Signed sealed and delivered In presence of John C Beatty On the back of which deed was thus endorsed to wit Jno Bayard Received on the ninth day of December 1797 from Frederick Valentine the sum of ten pounds current money it being the consideration within mentioned to be by him paid to me assayed by me John C Beatty Jno Bayard on the ninth day of December 1797 came before us the Subscribers two of the Justices of the Peace for Allegany County Andrew Rice party to the said indenture or instrument of writing and acknowledged the same to be his act and deed and land and premises therein mentioned to be the right and estate of the within named Frederick Valentine his heirs and assigns forever agreeable to an act of assembly in such case made and provided.
