BUTLER, this deed was recorded 27 Sep 1867 THIS DEED made this 20th day of September in the year 1867 by me, SARAH WRIGHT. WITNESSETH that in consideration of $2,235.00, I the said Sarah Wright do grant and convey in fee simple unto Sarah E.W. BUTLER, wife of Kennedy H. Butler, of the city of Cumberland and county of Allegany and State of Maryland, all that part of lot number 258 on the southerly side of Mechanic Street and on the easterly side of Wills Creek in said city and known by said number on the plat of said city in the county and state aforesaid. Beginning for such part, at a _ount on the first line of (196?) lot, it being the north west corner of the brick house lately owned by ISIAH ENGLAR, and being also the north easterly corner of that lot of same lot which is now owned by M.G. RABOLD and running ___ reversing Said first line with an allowance in the course thereof of __º to the sight for variation, south 68º, East 4_ and ¼ feet, S 68º, E 41¼ feet then South 23º, west 137 feet to WILLS CREEK, then up with the Easterly side of said Creek, North 63½º, West 4¼ feet to Rabold line of the part of same lot and then with Rabolds line by a straight line to the beginning of the part of same lot hereby sold and conveyed or intended so to be, reserving Neverthelass in through and over the alley now ___ and open on the Easterly side of the same part of said lot hereby granted, a right of way in per____ and in common with the owner of or en___ of that part of same lot binding on the Easterly side of said Alley and directly opposite to the part of same lot hereby granted to the said Sarah E.W. Butler, her heirs and assigns. Said alley leading from Mechanic Street to Wills Creek aforesaid. TOGETHER with all and singular the tenements, hereditaments and appurtenances thereto belonging or appertaining. TO HAVE AND TO HOLD the premises hereby granted to said Sarah E.W. BUTLER as her sole, separate and exclusive property free from all right interest and control of any husband she may now have or may hereafter have, in fee simple and the said Sarah Wrigh hereby covenants to and with said Sarah E.W. BUTLER, her heirs and assigns, that the premises hereby granted are now free and clear of and from all liens, charges and encumbrances whatsoever, made suffered or permitted by her, the said Sarah Wright.
