THIS DEED, made this first day of May in 1901 by and between John B. Wright of Allegany County and Thomas H. FROST of Garrett County Maryland executors of SARAH WRIGHT, late of Allegany County in the state of Maryland, parties of the first part and JOHN N. LAYMAN of Allegany County in State of Maryland, party of the second part. WHEREAS the said parties of the first part, acting under a power of (missing edge of page) sale contained in the last will and testament of the said Sarah Wright (missing) and in pursuance of an order of the Orpahns' Court for Allegany County (missed) passed on the 8th day of May, 1900 did on the 30th day of October, 1900, at public auction make sale of the real estate hereinafter described, to John N. Layman at and for the sum of $15,322.80, which said sale was reported to and finally ratified by said Orphans Court on the 11th day of December, 1900, and a supplemental order to correct certain erros in the said report of the said sale disclosed upon the face thereof, was passed by said Court on the 30th day of April 1901, all of which will fully appear by reference to the Third Report of Sales of real estate made to said Court by said executors and the proceedings of said Court in relation thereto and whereas the said parties of the first part by the said party of the second part. NOW THEREFORE, this deed witnesseth that in consideration of the premises and of the sum of one dollar, the said parties of the first part do grant and convey unto the said John N. Layman, his heirs and assigns, all that piece or parcel of ground being a portion of the Wright Farm, lying and being in Allegany County and State of Maryland, near the town of Frostburg, described as follows: BEGINNING for the property now intended to be conveyed at a ___ stone near a large white oak tree standing along the east side of the road leading from Wright's Crossing to Vale Summit, said stone being marked W.I. and running thence south 85º and 15 minutes, east 4406 feet to a stone; north 32º and 15 minutes, east 820 feet to a stone marked 121, North 18º and 55 minutes, west 1190 feet to a stone marked W.D. No. 4, south 73º and 25 minutes, east 510 feet to a stone; north 34º and 10 minutes, East 945 feet to a stone marked No. 124, North 60º and 50 minutes, West 580 feet to a stone near a white oak tree, marked with three notches, north 50º and 40 minutes; west 1441 feet to a stone marked No. 126; North 18º and 30 minutes, west 1045 feet, south 57º and 30 minutes, west 764 feet, south 34º, west 966 feet to the lands of Consolidation Coal Company, and with them, south 56º and 30 minutes, east 235 feet, south 34º and 10 minutes, West 1515 feet, north 56º and 20 minutes, west 1756 feet to the Cumberland and Pennsylvainia rail road, and with it south 34º and 10 minutes, west 690 feet, south 2º and 30 minutes, east 427 feet, south 48º, west 68 feet, south 7º, east 1623 feet to the beginning, containing 341.4 acres. TOGETHER WITH the buildings and improvements thereon, and the rights, roads, ways, waters, priviledges and appurtenances thereunto belonging or in anywise appurtaining. TO HAVE AND TO HOLD the above granted property, with all and singular the appurtenances thereto unto the said John N. Layman, his heirs and assigns forever in fee simple. Witness is G.Dud Hocking STATE OF MARYLAND, Allegany County, to wit: I hereby certify that on this 11th day of May 1901, before me the subscriber a Notary Public of the State of Maryland in and for Allegany County, personally appeared John B. Wright and Thomas W. Frost, executors as aforesaid and did each acknowledge the aforegoing deed to be their respective act.
