Seven or eight little children are slowly strangling to death in Gilmore and the physicians are busy with their antitoxin in trying to save the lives of these little ones, but nothing is being done to prevent a spread of this dread disease. The sanitary conditions in Gilmore are even worse than in Lonaconing. All the filth of one section of the village empties into the Nicklewhite lot at the Glis. Porter building. A long open ditch into which several outhouses empty runs into a covered sewer at Livingston's store, and discharges into the big open cesspool--the Nicklewhite lot--and remains there. One of Glis. Porter's little boys is down with diptheria and Mr. Porter called the attention of a Times representative to the Nicklewhite cesspool and the stagnant ditches, and shallow filthy wells at the Llewellyn tenements. Gilmore is filthy and needs a good cleaning up, plenty of whitewash, better sewerage and better water. Diphtheria is raging in this hamlet and there are several cases of typhoid fever at Harpersville. All filth diseasess. It is said that the Gilmore school house is not well ventilated, and that should be looked after, also. But whose business is it to look after it?
